Steenberg Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is the unusual one on the shelf — a sparkling wine made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc rather than the customary Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, which gives it a brighter, more aromatic character than most fizz.
It’s made by the traditional method, with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle just as it does in Champagne, for a fine and persistent mousse. Expect a full, fragrant nose of passion fruit, summer melon and a hint of lime, followed by a light, smooth palate of pineapple, pear and guava lifted by zippy, mouth-watering acidity.
