Description
Shenk’s Homestead Sour Mash Whiskey 2025 Release is apart of Michter’s Legacy Series, honoring the distillery’s founder John Shenk (est. 1753). It’s crafted in Kentucky using the traditional sour mash process—where a portion of prior mash (“setback”) is incorporated into the next batch. This rye-forward whiskey is partially finished in toasted (uncharred) French oak barrels sourced from the Vosges region of France, naturally air-dried and seasoned for 24 months before being toasted. Bottled at 91.2 proof, the result is a full-bodied whiskey infused with warm spice and toffee-forward richness (Shenk’s official, Food & Wine)
